At Stockholms Auktionsverk Helsingborg, we are greeted by Dagfinn Knudsen’s familiar female faces. They tumbled into Oslo’s art scene sometime in the 1980s and have since, in many ways, become synonymous with Knudsen’s artistic output. In these portraits, he has abstracted his subjects to the point that they can hardly be considered representational in any traditional sense. Yet each motif carries a sense of immediacy that unmistakably signals a work by Dagfinn Knudsen.
