He has been compared to several of our colourists. He himself wished to be more of a mix of Albert Engström and Wilhelm de Kooning.

In his combined studio and home in Gothenburg, Mauritz Karström (1962–2005) poured his inner world onto canvases and paper. Through a tumult of colours and brushstrokes, his figures and faces now emerge in twelve works at Stockholms Auktionsverk Göteborg.
