Ron Galella was not merely part of this myth-making; he helped shape it. Time Magazine and Vanity Fair have both described him as „the Godfather of the U.S. paparazzi culture.“Born in 1931 in New York City, Galella began photographing seriously during his service in the United States Air Force during the Korean War. After studying at the Art Center College of Design in Los Angeles — funded through the sale of photographs from film premieres — he embarked on a career that would transform the relationship between celebrity and photography.
