A Celebration of Time
With A Celebration of Time, Stockholms Auktionsverk Cologne presents a curated selection of 112 lots, bringing together a diverse range of timepieces for collectors and watch enthusiasts.
A particular focus is placed on watches from the 1940s through the 1970s – from elegant dress watches and marine and military watches to chronographs and sportier timepieces. Automatic, hand-wound and quartz watches are represented throughout the selection. Renowned manufacturers including Rolex, Omega, Breitling, Jaeger-LeCoultre, IWC, Tudor, Zenith and Longines are joined by names such as Ebel, Junghans and Rolco.
Among the highlights is an Omega Ranchero from the 1950s. Introduced in 1958 and produced for only a short period, the model combines design elements of the Seamaster, Railmaster and Speedmaster lines of the era and is today regarded as an intriguing chapter in Omega’s early Professional watch history.
The Omega Speedmaster Mark 4.5 offers another example of the experimental spirit of the 1970s. Its automatic chronograph movement, Omega calibre 1045, is based on the Lemania 5100, combining traditional chronograph functions with additional day, date and 24-hour indications.
Bringing the selection into the present is a Rolex Day-Date 36 in Everose gold with a chocolate diamond-set dial from 2024. Introduced in 1956, the Day-Date was the first calendar wristwatch to display the day of the week spelled out in full alongside the date.
A Celebration of Time brings together iconic classics, distinctive vintage watches and contemporary timepieces – a diverse selection for collectors and enthusiasts of watch history.
