Large folio (560x430 mm. binding). With hand-coloured allegorical engraved frontispiece, 7 double-page folding hand-coloured engraved maps, includes the 2 world maps, [the second one with double hemisphaeres, c. 545x660 mm. platemark], both heightend with gold, the four continents Europe, Asia, Africa and America (Asia with minor spot), map of Italy and 88 engraved maps in black and white on 44 sheets covering the whole world, especially the Netherlands and Europe (each map c. 260x390 mm.) Complete. The engraved title page, 7 double page maps and all vignettes together with historiated initials in fine later colour, partly heightened in gold.
Half-title with small tear to margin, signature on title page, text with some dampstains, mostly to margin, at the end some spotting.
Later half vellum binding, spine taken from old manuscript, new endpapers, slight wear.
Collation: (5), 66, 76 ll. (includes half-title, hand-coloured engraved title page, title page in red and black with engraved vignette in colour, dedication leaf with large engraving and hand-coloured initial. Text on thick broadsheet paper.
The text is a geographical, political and historical description of all the regions and countries of the world, by Gueudeville and Ferrarius.

The two world maps are: Nova Orbis Terraquei Tabula Accuratissimi Delineata (shows California as an island and New Guinea as a large peninsula of northern Australia) and Planispherium terrestre, secundum recentiores astronomorum, engraved by W. van der Gouwen after J. Goeree.
