Stockholms Auktionsverk Presents

The Design Sale

The Design Sale showcases the finest in Swedish and international design from the 20th century onwards. The auction brings together furniture, lighting, rugs, glass, ceramics, silver, and jewellery of the highest quality, reflecting the timeless aesthetics of modernism.

This season’s auction features an exceptional highlight in the form of a central work by Diego Giacometti – an oeuvre where the boundary between sculpture and function is constantly explored and redefined. Other highlights include a monumental, richly decorated cabinet by Valentin Kielland, Norway, 1902.

The catalogue also presents works by some of the Nordic region’s most sought-after designers, including Josef Frank, Hans J. Wegner, Poul Kjærholm, Axel Einar Hjorth, Märta Måås-Fjetterström, Alvar Aalto, Barbro Nilsson, Mats Theselius, and Hans Hedberg, among others.

The Design Sale Presents

“Berceau”, table, modèle aux chats, by Diego Giacometti – an iconic work from the “cradle table” models of the early 1970s.

The table is characterised by gently curved, cradle-like side supports that hold an open and airy tabletop, topped with stylised cat figures. The cats are not merely decorative, but form a natural part of the table’s rhythm and balance, as in Giacometti’s broader artistic oeuvre.

Estimate 3 000 000 – 4 000 000 SEK
