Andreas Rydén and Lena Rydén join the executive management team at Stockholms Auktionsverk

Stockholms Auktionsverk, the world’s oldest operating auction house, welcomes two of the Nordic region’s leading art experts and auction professionals to its executive management team. Today, Andreas Rydén takes up the role of Deputy CEO and Head Specialist, while Lena Rydén becomes Director of the auction house’s Fine Art organisation. Both will also join Stockholms Auktionsverk’s executive management team.

Andreas Rydén and Lena Rydén are highly respected and well-established figures in the Nordic art market, as well as familiar faces to a wider audience through their appearances as experts on some of Sweden’s most popular television programmes. They join Stockholms Auktionsverk from senior positions at Bukowskis, where Andreas served as Deputy CEO and Head Specialist Art, while Lena was, among other roles, Head of the Art Department.

Strengthening Stockholms Auktionsverk’s Fine Art organisation

The appointments come as Stockholms Auktionsverk continues to experience strong growth. During the spring season, total Fine Art sales increased by 162% compared with the same period in 2025. The auction house also achieved several Swedish and world auction records.

“When we left Bukowskis, we actually had other plans. We considered several different options, but after speaking with CEO Cecilia Gave and the Board, it felt both exciting and inspiring to become part of the success story currently unfolding at Stockholms Auktionsverk. A solid foundation has already been built. We now hope to build on that strong foundation with our own expertise and extensive experience,” says Lena Rydén.

Lena Rydén is returning to Stockholms Auktionsverk, where she previously worked for more than ten years. She now takes on a newly created role as Director of the Fine Art organisation, which brings the most significant works to clients in more than 180 countries.

Andreas Rydén also has a long history with the auction house, having previously served as Head Specialist and Head of the Art Department. Together, they look forward to further strengthening Stockholms Auktionsverk’s strong position and specialist team.
