The Rare Books, Maps & Manuscripts Sale presents
Among the major highlights of the auction are eleven rare letters by Carl Linnaeus, Sweden’s most renowned scientist. The autograph letters, written and signed by Linnaeus himself, offer a fascinating insight into the international scientific networks of the 18th century, where ideas, discoveries, and botanical specimens were exchanged among Europe’s leading scholars. The letters originate from the collection of the distinguished Linnaeus collector Birger Strandell and are exceedingly rare on the market.
