The Rare Books, Maps & Manuscripts Sale
The Rare Books, Maps & Manuscripts Sale offers collectors and enthusiasts a unique opportunity to acquire historical documents and literary works with both high cultural significance and strong collector value.
Among the highlights of the spring sale are important manuscripts by Albert Einstein, August Strindberg and Frans G. Bengtsson. The auction also presents an outstanding collection of eleven autograph letters signed by Carl Linnaeus (1707–1778), offered across eight separate lots.
The letters are addressed to some of the leading European natural scientists of the eighteenth century, including Albert Haller, Thomas Pennant and Jean-François Séguier, as well as to Linnaeus’ renowned publisher Lars Salvius. The correspondence discusses new scientific discoveries, the exchange of ideas, and the sharing of seeds and pressed plants — a vivid testament to the international scientific world of the Enlightenment.
