PG Thelander – Summa summarum

The exhibition PG Thelander – Summa summarum brings together works ranging from the artist’s experiments with Plexiglas in the 1960s to his later paintings, as well as prints and sculpture. Highlights include paintings such as I väntan på istiden II (1978), Klassfoto (2005) and All inclusive (2016), alongside the sculpture Potatisryttare and the idiosyncratic etching Arabisk pingvin.

PG Thelander exhibited regularly in Sweden and internationally and is represented in museum collections including Moderna Museet, Nationalmuseum, the British Museum and the Museum of Modern Art in New York. He also received awards at several international biennials and competitions, including in Tokyo, San Francisco, Kraków and Paris.

To be entrusted with the care of his work and, together with those closest to him, to realise the exhibition he himself helped shape means a great deal to us. Thelander’s art combines precision and imagination. Everyday objects and motifs are placed in unexpected relationships, creating images that are both visually appealing and open to interpretation. His work encompasses painting, printmaking and sculpture, and is consistently characterised by a highly personal visual language.
