The Contemporary Art Sale
This autumn’s edition of the international live auction The Contemporary Art Sale moves between international icons and some of the most influential names on the Swedish art scene. A special place is given to works from Körsbärsgården’s personal art collection. For more than 25 years, the art centre in southern Gotland has been a popular destination, where Jon and Marita Jonsson have built up their own collection alongside an extensive exhibition programme. As a new chapter begins, Stockholms Auktionsverk has been entrusted with selling parts of the collection, including works by Fredrik Wretman, Maria Miesenberger and Klara Kristalova.
Among the sale’s international highlights are Andy Warhol’s Northwest Coast Mask from the 1986 series Cowboys and Indians, and Kenny Scharf’s monumental Pipe Dream, with its characteristic psychedelic imagery. The sale also features two original works by Christo and Jeanne-Claude. Swedish contemporary art is represented by artists including Lena Cronqvist, Jockum Nordström and Cecilia Edefalk, alongside a younger generation of artists such as Linnea Rygaard and Martin Jacobson.
