Near contemporary black full calf with gilt and blindstamped decorations, somewhat worn, gilt inner borders, gilt edges of covers, gilt spine, all edges gilt, inner doublures and endpapers of red watered silk, flyleaves of vellum. First endpaper with old catalogue cut, label from G.E. Rappaport in Rome.
Dibdin writes in his "Classics" about the "Horace": "This little volume is remarkable for the neatness and delicacy of the type, and in general bound up with its companion, the Phaedrus of 1729, when the latter is struck of on large paper. Of the Horace there is only one-sized paper"
