Etsujiro Sunamoto was a Japanese ivory carver, who continued the collections of his father (of the same trade). Much of the contents concerns this. Neither the author´s expressed pretentions, nor the result, though voluminous, are scholarly, but it presents an abundance of material, both Asian and Western, and the bibliography seems still to be unsurpassed.
