Terrestrial globe gores. Geographical details on the gores include the location of the ´Antipodes of Greenwich´. The place of Cook´s death is marked and labelled ´Karakakooa B. / where Cap. Cook was / kill´d in 1779´. In the north polar region there are five labels for discoveries, including, for example, ´Edams Land 1655´, and there is a place with a comment that reads ´Interview with Natives Aug.t 1818´. Close to the North Pole is the label ´Capt.n Parry´. In Australia the Dutch discoveries are recorded. In the south polar region there are five labels for discoveries, including, for example, ´L.d Aucklands / Cap. Bristow 1806´. There are many small islands in the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans which have been provided with a name and a date. Only the most notable ones, amounting to 17, are recorded in the globe catalogue, for example, ´Lisiansky´s Sandy 1805´. The tracks of all three of Cook´s voyages and those of Gore, Vancouver and Biscoe are shown. A total of five oceans are named.
