DUMOULIN, Louis-Jules. Autograph letter signed (ASL), 2 pages in small 8vo (180x110 mm), dated (probably) 4 Janvier 1885.
Dumouin (1860-1924), a French painter. He travelled in the Far East and was founder of the Société Coloniale des Artistes Français in 1908.
He writes about his mother in a charming way.
"Madame,
"Madam,
I learn from my mother how good you have been and how affectionately you have lavished care and friendship on her during her illness.
Allow me to thank you with all my heart for having consoled my dear mother for being without me to heal and cure her.
Dare I ask you, Madam, to watch over her again and to give me the certainty that if fatality wanted her to be still suffering, she would be saved once again by you.
She is so delicate that it would be a great comfort for me to know her near friends who love her almost as much as we do."
Provenance: Stavsund castle, the family of Klinckowström, Sweden.
Folded once, small tear to folding.
