Some of the subjects discussed in the present supplements are: the population of the world (7 supplements), Ithaka, the Cordillian Mountains near Bogota, fishing, Böhmerwald, scientific expeditions, Atlas Mountains, North Abessinia, Sao Pedro Rio Grande do Sul, Lenkas Island, geognostics of North Africa, windroses, currents in the North Sea, earth magnetism of Europe and Asia, distribution of plants in the world, Cossacks, Sierra de Estrella, athmospheric circulation, deltas and so on.
The numbers are: 35, 38, 49, 55, 56,58, 60, 61, 62, 73, 66, 68, 69, 70, 71, 74, 76, 78, 79, 81, 83, 86, 90, 95, 96, 97, 98, 101, 103, 104, 107 and 109.
The information in Petermanns Mittheilungen was the most accurate and up-to-date geographic information available in the second half of the 19th century. All the information and maps are original works by the carthographers in Gotha. Geographic information from all over the world was steadily sent to the experts at Justus Perthes.They usually recieved it ahed of all others because they were the most prestigous of carthographic institutions.
Wrappers partly worn and frayed, some creases, repairs and some damages to spines. Some with loose lower wrapper, one partly disbound. Nine supplements with a blue crayon marking at the top of the upper wrapper. Some minor tears to text and margin of some maps.
